Introduction to Yukata

Yukata is a casual traditional Japanese garment best worn in the summer. It is usually worn with hanhaba obi or sometimes a heko obi. It is usually made from cotton, cotton blend, or polyester. There is both a male and female version, both worn with geta. Unlike kimono, juban is not worn underneath, only hadagi or regular undergarments. It is usually worn to summer festivals or sakura matsuri (the cherry blossom festival) and fireworks viewings. You can read more about geta, hanhaba obi, heko obi, hadagi, and juban here.
